Wakefield Wildcats suffer Amor injury blow

Prop Kyle Amor could be out for up to two months after breaking a hand in Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ opening game of the Stobart Super League season.
The former Leeds Rhinos front-rower suffered the injury during the 32-14 win at Widnes Vikings four days ago and was undergoing surgery today.
“Kyle has broken a bone in his hand,” coach Richard Agar confirmed. “He is going to have an operation, to wire it.
“That is going to put him out for six to eight weeks, so it’s a fairly big blow for us at this stage.”
Agar added: “Kyle has gone all right in our last couple of games. He gives us a bit of punch up front and was coming along really well.
“He is pretty down about it, but he will get it operated on and he’ll start his recovery from then. We will get him back as quick as we can.”
Amor spent last season on loan at Wildcats from Leeds. He signed for Wakefield over the off-season, but Rhinos have the opportunity to take him back midway through this year.
Centre Dean Collis suffered a dead leg in the Widnes game, but Agar said: “I’d expect, on a nine-day turnaround, that he’d be fit for the Hull KR game this Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Agar admitted that the weather is the major headache facing Wildcats ahead of their first home game.
Agar’s side were forced to train indoors yesterday and the coach is concerned that they may not get to use a grass surface before Sunday.
“The long-term forecast is not great,” he said. “We are trying to make contingency plans, but outdoor all-weather surfaces are covered in snow at the moment.
“It is a difficult one, but we will work something out.”
Ironically, last week’s season-opener was played on Widnes’ new artificial 4g I-pitch.
