WAKEFIELD TRINITY Wildcats prop Andy Raleigh has unveiled a one-off playing shirt for his testimonial game later this month.
Wildcats will face Raleigh’s previous club Huddersfield Giants at Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Sunday, January 26 (3pm). The game marks the official launch of Raleigh’s three-month testimonial, awarded for services to the sport. More events are planned between April and June.
The match against last year’s Super League leaders will be Wildcats’ first home trial game, following the Boxing Day draw at Leeds Rhinos and this Sunday’s trip to Featherstone.
Coach Richard Agar is hopeful overseas recruits Pita Godinet, Scott Anderson and Matty Ryan will make their first appearance for Wildcats against Huddersfield.
The trio are still awaiting visa clearance, but could arrive in this country in time to take part in a north Wales training camp next week.
Raleigh 32, began his professional career with Sheffield Eagles in 2004. After two seasons in South Yorkshire he had a similar spell at Hull KR before joining hometown club Huddersfield in 2006.
He made his Wakefield debut in 2012.
Tickets for Raleigh’s testimonial game cost £15 for adults, £10 concessions and £5 for children. Boxes and a supporters’ hospitality package are also available. Hospitality packages can be booked by calling 01484 540849 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Meanwhile, Luke Briscoe – signed on a season-long loan from Leeds Rhinos – is set to make his Wildcats debut at Featherstone in two days’ time.
Reece Lyne will make his first pre-season appearance, after missing the Boxing Day game, and highly-rated academy duo Jordan Crowther and Max Jowitt are also included in Wildcats’ squad.
Wildcats’ under-19s begin their pre-season programme tomorrow at home to Kingstone Press Championship One side Hemel Stags (1.30pm).
