Hadley has turned out 17 times for Trinity since joining them from Hull in March.

His classy performances in the pack have been integral to Trinity’s shock challenge for a place in the Betfred Super League semi-finals, but his future remains up in the air and will not be decided until the end of the season, he says.

“I have still got two more years left at Hull, but at the moment I am just enjoying playing week to week,” Hadley confirmed.

“I will have a chat with Hull at the end of the year and see what their thoughts are, but at the moment I am taking it week by week, I am enjoying it and I am improving as a player.

“That is what I want to do.”

Hadley filled in at hooker for the injured Kyle Wood in last week’s defeat at Castleford Tigers.

Asked if he enjoys the role, he said: “No – not really!

“I will put my hand up and play anywhere. Obviously I see myself as a back-rower and that’s where I want to play, but unfortunately Woody picked up a bit of an injury.

“I took it as a bit of a compliment that the coach can see me filling in here, there and everywhere. I’ll just do my best job. I am obviously not the most natural nine, but I will do my best and do anything I can for the team.”

Trinity were the bit-part players on a memorable occasion for Castleford, whose win sealed top spot on the table, but Wakefield have made incredible progress over the past two years and Hadley said they are determined to create some history for themselves in the remaining fixtures.

“We want to be playing in the big games,” he said. “We have got a great shout of getting in the top-four and playing in a semi-final and that’s what we want to do. We showed for long periods we can match these top teams.”

Other results in round three of the Super-8s went their way so Trinity remain fourth in the table with only four games remaining before the play-offs.

Hadley said: “We are definitely still in it and we showed for about 60 minutes last week we are a good team. We matched them for long periods. We just got a little bit sloppy towards the end, but we will take a lot of positives from it.

“Maybe a couple of times we switched off, but for really long periods we showed we are a good side and we matched them – we were going set-for-set and it could have gone either way. Unfortunately it went Cas’ way.”
