Northern Rail Cup preview: Swinton v Hunslet Hawks
Dennis Tuffour.
Winger Dennis Tuffour is set to miss Hunslet Hawks’ Northern Rail Cup tie at Swinton on Sunday.
The former Hull and York man was Hawks’ major casualty from Wednesday night’s opening 34-18 win over Whitehaven.
Coach Barry Eaton said: “Dennis is almost certainly ruled out. He tweaked a hamstring early in the second half and had to leave the field.
“Richard Blakeway got a bit of a knock to his lower back.
“He came off, had some treatment and went back on.
“David March got a calf injury and we pulled him off with seven or eight minutes to go.
“Hopefully the injuries are not too bad and they’ll settle down, but it is a short turnaround between matches.”
Joe Pickets, Scott Watson and Corey Challenger have all been drafted into the squad for Sunday’s game.
Meanwhile, former chief executive Alan Stephenson has left Hunslet Hawks following the recent supporters’ takeover.
Stephenson said: “I’ve left wishing them well for the future.
“It is probably time for fresh ideas and thinking.”
