Hunslet Hawks: Positive thinking from Eaton

HUNSLET HAWKS coach Barry Eaton can see one benefit of playing his side’s opening Northern Rail Cup tie tomorrow evening.

Hawks will take on visitors Whitehaven in a re-arranged first match, after Sunday’s scheduled tie fell victim to a frozen pitch.

Eaton said: “It makes it tough at the start of the year, having to play twice in four days.

“But we hadn’t been able to train on the pitch for over 10 days and if the game had been on Sunday, the only preparation we’d have had would have been preview work and talking through the game plan.

“Hopefully, the training pitch will be okay for us to do a team practice run tonight.”

Eaton said he is likely to stick with the team named for Sunday.
