Hallas slams 'moronic' fans
FORMER Hunslet Hawks coach Graeme Hallas has fired a parting shot at a group of fans he claims is "holding the club back".
Hallas, who was in his second season at Hunslet – quit this week.
He said today: "I have forged some good personal and professional relationships with a number of people, both administrative and volunteers associated with the club, who are fighting tooth and nail for the club's survival.
"These people are, however, being thwarted by a very small group of moronic, adult spectators who are helping to lower the profile of the club through the use of language and behaviour not in keeping with the RFL's adopted Respect policy."
Hallas added: "These people didn't play a part in my decision to leave, but they are holding the club back.
"I know of three or four dozen people who would go more regularly to watch, but won't because they won't take their kids due to the way these people are."
Second-team coach Gary Lord has taken over caretaker charge of the Hawks following the departure of Hallas.
