Castleford ace Shenton handed England call-up
Castleford Tigers centre Michael Shenton is the latest addition to England coach Tony Smith's train-on squad for the end-of-season internationals.
The 23-year-old Shenton who won his second cap in England's 66-12 win over France in Paris in June, is the only player called up from the two clubs eliminated from the engage Super League play-offs at the weekend.
His Castleford team-mate Joe Westerman, who was 18th man in Paris, has failed to catch the eye of Smith after a comparatively disappointing domestic season and there are no representatives from Wakefield.
Centre Ryan Atkins, who is moving from the Wildcats to Warrington next season, would have been an England certainty but has ruled himself out because of a wrist injury.
And there is no place for Wakefield scrum-half Danny Brough despite switching his allegiance from Scotland, who he captained in last year's World Cup.
Shenton will join the now 14-strong squad for training on Monday in preparation for the international against Wales on October 17 and the Gillette Four Nations series.
