Castleford launch own investigation into bottle throwing

Castleford Tigers today instigated their own investigation into events at the Jungle on Saturday evening.

Tigers fans were, at the time, incensed by the performance of the referee in the game against Catalans Dragons and we are aware that some plastic bottles were thrown onto the pitch at the end of the game.

The Tigers CEO Richard Wright said: "I spoke with many fans at the end of the game a they felt bitterly disappointed with some of the referee's decisions.

"However there can be no justification in any circumstances for items to be thrown onto the pitch and if incidents like this do occur, it can only harm the club in the long term.

"We will now be meeting with our safety and security people to determine how best we can avoid a repetition of this incident. Furthermore, if we are able to identify anyone who threw a bottle, then we will ban them from the Jungle."
