Batley put up a fight
A gallant display from Batley Bulldogs in the south of France ended in disappointment as they narrowly went down 32-24 to in-form Toulouse in the Championship on Saturday.
Locked at 12-12 at the interval, Toulouse raced clear in the second period before two quick-fire Batley tries briefly threatened an upset.
Nevertheless, the West Yorkshire side picked up a richly-deserved bonus point.
Paul Mennell, Danny Maun, Paul Handforth and Jon Simpson all touched down for Batley while Mennell added three goals and Handforth one.
Mitchell, Gay, Couturier, Bromley, and T Wynn all found the line for the French side while N Wynn kicked six goals.
The match attracted an impressive attendance of 2,176 to further give encouragement for the growth of the game in France.
