Raiders handed home tie

WEST Yorkshire community clubs Oulton Raiders and Normanton Knights have been drawn together in the third round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

Raiders - last year’s National Conference Division One champions - will have home advantage against thier Wakefield rivals, who finished fifth in the same division.

Oulton beat Normanton twice last season, winning 28-16 at home and 20-10 in the away league clash.

It is Raiders’ third home tie in this year’s Challenge Cup, following big wins over Scarborough Pirates and Valley Cougars.

Knights beat visitors Myton Warriors 34-16 in round one and were 12-4 winners at home to Shaw Cross Sharks last weekend.

Featherstone Lions, winners of Conference Division Three last year, travel to Elland, who were second in Division Two.

The full draw is: Barrow Raiders v Keighley Cougars, South Wales Scorpions v York City Knights, University of Gloucester All Golds v Skirlaugh, Oldham v Coventry Bears, Kells v Rochdale Hornets, London Skolars v Swinton Lions, Hemel Stags v Oxford RLFC, Oulton Raiders v Normanton Knights, Leigh Miners Rangers v West Hull, North Wales Crusaders v Widnes West Bank, Elland v Featherstone Lions, Wath Brow Hornets v Newcastle Thunder. Ties to be played on March 7/8.
