National Conference League: Cawood and Brocksom in at the double for Milford

MILFORD MARLINS and East Leeds are through to the second round of the National Conference Trophy, but Hunslet Warriors and Oulton Raiders have bowed out.

Josh Cawood and Matt Brocksom both bagged a brace of tries for Milford in a 35-12 home win over Division One rivals Featherstone Lions. Ryan Oxtoby scored a try and a goal, James Barker also touched down and Martin Loveridge landed four goals and a one-pointer.

Easts won their all-Division Two tie against Leigh East 18-14 thanks to tries from Tim Norfolk, Luke Tomlinson and Jacob Thompson, which were all converted by Tom Sheldrake.

Division One side Warriors suffered a disastrous collapse against Saddleworth Rangers, of Division Two, letting a 22-0 interval lead slip as they lost 32-28.

Try-scorers were Liam Brown, Gary McClelland, coach Jamie Benn, Gareth Croft and Daryl Gaunt, who added four goals.

Second Division Oulton trailed only 12-10 at half-time away to top-flight Thatto Heath, but were beaten 36-10.

Zak Schofield and Andy Williamson crossed and Josh Murray booted a conversion.

Hunslet Club Parkside were given a bye to the second round after scheduled opponents Waterhead failed to raise a team.
