EXILES star Joel Moon should discover today the extent of his shoulder injury.

The Leeds Rhinos centre, who has missed just two games all season, is a major doubt for Friday’s visit from Hull KR.

He was hurt in their loss at Wakefield Trinity and the club’s medical staff are awaiting to see how severe the problem is.

“Moony came off towards the back end of the game,” explained coach Brian McDermott, who was due to name his 19-man squad today.

“He injured his shoulder about 20 minutes in but toughed it out for another 40.

“I’d be surprised if he makes this weekend. It’s a ‘stinger’ and he’s probably sprung his AC on his shoulder. We’ll check on that and he may well play but we won’t know more until Wednesday morning.”

Moon, the 26-year-old who has scored eight tries in 20 appearances this term, has been in fine form of late.

McDermott admitted: “Moony has been brilliant and, whether we win or lose a game, he’s been a very good performer.

“He’s a very good attacker, an outstanding defender who’s been great for us this year.”

WAKEFIELD Trinity Wildcats have been boosted by the return of Ali Lauitiiti for tomorrow night’s visit from Widnes Vikings. The second-row, 34, has been out since April with a knee injury that was feared season-ending but is in the 19-man squad after being aided by some altitude training at Sheffield Hallam University.

However, Pita Godinet and Daniel Smith both miss out with knee injuries of their own, the former’s potentially severe.

Matty Wildie and Chris Annakin come in and Max Jowitt drops out.
