Leeds Rhinos have announced a new two-year deal with sponsors Leeds Building Society.

The society has announced it is extending its term as main club sponsor until the end of the 2017 season, following nine years of sponsorship, which began in 2007 and includes this year’s Super League XX.

Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington said: “Leeds Building Society has certainly played a major part in our success when you consider that we have won nine major trophies in the eight years they have been main sponsors.

“There is a perfect fit between us both and we are very proud to carry the name of a major Leeds-based national business on the shirts. This is an excellent deal for both parties and we are delighted this relationship will continue.

“Over the past 15 years we have built up a very successful partnership with Leeds Building Society through our affinity account for Rhinos supporters. We share many common ideals. We are both proud of our heritage, are integral parts of the fabric of the city and embrace change. We both reward loyalty and offer outstanding value.

“Our success on the pitch could not be achieved without successful partnerships off it. There is no doubt that having a main club sponsor as successful as Leeds Building Society is vitally important to us and I am sure we will have a bright future together.”

Leeds Building Society chief cxecutive Peter Hill said: “We are delighted to be extending our sponsorship of the Rhinos for another two years. We share so many values - our passion for success, our team spirit and our commitment to the communities we serve.

“Leeds Rhinos have enjoyed their most successful period in history, via their golden generation, with Leeds Building Society proudly on the front of the most popular shirt in Super League.

“I am passionate about supporting grassroots rugby in our heartland and our Blue & Amber affinity account has already contributed more than £440,000 for the development of junior rugby and to support the Rhinos’ excellent community programmes. I am proud that our affinity account has helped youth development at the club, which is demonstrated by the number of top class youngsters coming through from the academy.

“Both we and the Rhinos are successful Leeds-based organisations, play major roles in the city and we have

many customers and colleagues who are Rhinos supporters. This sponsorship puts us where we are proud to be, at the heart of Leeds life.”
