New Carlsberg UK sponsorship deal helps Leeds Rhinos complete new stand

Leeds Rhinos have completed maintenance work on the South Stand at Headingley thanks to a new eight-year sponsorship deal with Carlsberg UK.

Part of the stand, which will see the return of the Tetley’s brand, had been closed for safety reasons for the last two years but will re-open in time for the Super League champions’ opening game of the new season against Hull KR on Friday.

The work has increased the South Stand capacity by 1,500 and taken the ground capacity back up to 21,000, which is expected to be reached when the Rhinos take on Manly Sea Eagles in the Heinz Big Soup World Club Challenge on Friday, February 17.

Leeds commercial director Rob Oates said: “For many years, the Tetley’s brand has been associated with the Rhinos, in particular the South Stand, and we are delighted to have the name back on the South Stand as the champions kick off the new season.”

Leeds have plans to completely re-develop the South Stand but are awaiting funding.
