Australian champions Manly Sea Eagles are fit, ready and raring to go.

That was the warning from the visitors’ camp as the NRL Grand Final winners prepare to take on Leeds Rhinos in Friday’s Heinz Big Soup World Club Challenge.

Manly arrived in this country over the weekend and have trained at Leeds University, as well as Rhinos’ all-weather pitch at Kirkstall.

Friday’s game will be Geoff Toovey’s first competitive fixture as Manly’s head coach and he confirmed he will select his strongest-available line-up.

“There won’t be any surprises,” said Toovey. “I think everyone is fit and ready to go. It’s only the make-up of the bench that needs to be decided.”

Centre David Williams, who broke his neck during a game last August, is expected to make his comeback.

“It looks good, he has got through training really well,” Toovey confirmed. “There was a bit of doubt whether he would come over last week.

“Not because of the neck injury – which was a fairly huge injury last year. He has fully recovered from that, but he had a bit of a foot injury the last month.

“He has passed a fitness test on that and he is ready to go. That’s a big boost, he is a very confident player. He’s really excited to be back and playing football.”

Manly’s co-captain is former St Helens centre Jamie Lyon.

He said: “They are always tough games here at Headingley, the fans are always pretty vocal and it’s a good atmosphere.”
