Leeds Rhinos: Rhinos in tribute to tragic ex-Academy ace
Leeds Rhinos' three teams will all wear black arm bands during their matches this weekend, in memory of former Academy player Andrew Curwell, who has died following an accident while on holiday in Cornwall.
The 18-year-old second-row made five appearances this season for Rhinos' under-18 side, having joined them in 2007 from the Saddleworth amateur club in his native Oldham.
He was a pupil at Rishworth School, in Halifax.
Rhinos head of youth development Barrie McDermott said: "This is tragic news and our sympathies go to Andy's family and friends at this time.
"Andy was an intelligent young man who loved playing rugby and had a bright future ahead of him.
"Just three weeks ago he finished with our Academy so he could concentrate on his studies and I know he was a looking forward to going to university in the future.
"He was well liked by all his team mates and coaches and will be sadly missed by everyone."
