THREE LEEDS Rhinos players have been chosen among rugby league’s personalities of the season.
The Rugby League Yearbook 2015-16, produced by trade newspaper League Express, selected Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker and departing duo Kevin Sinfield/Jamie Peacock as key figures during the past 12 months.
Hardaker was named Man of Steel, while Sinfield and Peacock both made their final appearance for Rhinos in the Grand Final win over Wigan Warriors which completed an historic treble of domestic trophies.
The Yearbook normally highlights five personalities of the year, but the latest edition also selects Alex Walmsley, Johnathan Thurston and Danny/Lizzie Jones.
Lizzie Jones sang at this year’s Challenge Cup final, plus the third Test and last week’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year show, in tribute to her husband Danny, who died after being taken ill playing for Keighley Cougars.
Walmsley, who had an impressive season for St Helens, is a former Leeds Metropolitan University student, who began his professional career with Batley Bulldogs.
Thurston inspired North Queensland Cowboys to their first NRL title and is set to star for the Aussie champions against Rhinos in next year’s World Club Challenge at Headingley.
