FULL-BACK ZAK Hardaker and forward Mitch Garbutt are set to return for Leeds Rhinos in tonight’s home clash with Salford Red Devils.
Hardaker missed last week’s 26-24 loss at Wigan Warriors through suspension and Garbutt was sidelined after straining his back in the final training session.
Long-term casualties Tom Briscoe and Jamie Jones-Buchanan will again miss out. Briscoe has not played since undergoing shoulder surgery in March and Jones-Buchanan has featured just twice in the past 14 games, due to a hamstring problem.
Both had been confident of featuring tonight, but will not be risked. Coach Brian McDermott said: “Unfortunately neither player is quite right to return this week. We have got a massive period of the season coming up and there is no point in rushing any players back before they are 100 per cent.”
Prop Jamie Peacock will be rested after playing 80 minutes against Wigan.
Stevie Ward (ankle), Mitch Achurch (wrist) and Liam Sutcliffe (knee) remain on the casualty list, along with under-19s full-back Ashton Golding (back), but young hooker Robbie Ward has been drafted into the squad. Salford’s side will be selected from the 17 who hit back from 18-4 down to beat Hull KR 31-18 last week, plus Rangi Chase and Harrison Hansen.
