UP-BEAT BOSS Brian McDermott had no argument with the video referees’ decision which cost Leeds Rhinos victory against the Huddersfield Giants at Headingley.
Rhinos lost 24-22, after Tom Briscoe had a touchdown ruled out on the final play, after the hooter had sounded.
McDermott said: “I think they ruled that Tommy Briscoe pushed Danny Brough. You could argue either way on that.
“It was 50-50 and it didn’t go our way, so fairs dos. No complaints, it would have been a fairytale finish to what was an entertaining game. Neither team took a grip of it and given where we’ve been for the last two weeks, in terms of performance and how we’ve played, I thought that was a step forward.
“It was a step in the right direction, we are building again. There are some things there that we will keep hold of.
“For the whole of the first half I was pleased with our attitude to hard work and bending our backs.
“It was fantastic, the best it has been for a long while. But we clocked right off just after half-time and played and defended passive,” he said.
“Huddersfield exploited that and got a couple of tries, but we switched back on and got a bit of character back and got back into it, but if I am really honest I thought that was a fair result.”
