The game will be staged at South Leeds Stadium on January 8 (8pm) - the first time it has been played on a Friday since the fixture was revived in 2003.

Leeds are the holders, following a 28-14 victory at the start of this year and Hunslet director of rugby Darren Williams said: “It will be great to welcome the Rhinos once again to South Leeds.

“Our lads will be really looking forward to challenging themselves against the current treble winners.

“It’s going to be a great challenge for our new-look squad and it will again provide us with another tough pre-season fixture as we complete our preparation looking ahead to our league campaign.”

Tickets for the match will be priced £10 for adults and £5 concessions, with under-16s admitted free.

It will be the first time a new system of smartcard entry has been used at South Leeds Stadium.

Fans of both clubs will be able to pay cash on the night at the ticket office, where they will receive a ticket complete with a code to be read at the turnstile.

Hawks commercial director Ian Johnson commented: “The new Smartcard system will really take us forward as a club.

“Not only will this enable the club to have an accurate count of the attendance at games, but in the future it will be possible for the ‘Hawks Card’ to be used as a loyalty card, similar to many shops, and even as a debit card for payment in the Hawks shop and bar.”
