Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that 20-year-old hooker Liam Hood will make his Super League debut in Friday’s derby at Castleford Tigers.

The Bradford-born academy product caught the eye in the Rhinos’ Boxing Day friendly against Wakefield but an ankle injury ruled him out of contention for a senior call-up until now.

“Liam Hood will make his Super League debut,” said coach Brian McDermott.

“Liam was impressive for us in pre-season and was unfortunate not to make his debut last season after being 18th man on a number of occasions.

“He is an exciting young player who possesses all the skills to succeed at the top level.”

Rhinos' Brent Webb is tackled by Tigers' Joe Westerman and Michael Shenton.
