HUNSLET HAWKS have recalled Marcus Elliott and Lewis Reed from their loan spell at London Skolars as they struggle with an injury crisis ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Leigh Centurions in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Hawks, who were hammered 68-6 at home by Bradford Bulls two days ago, will again by without Andy Kain and Jimmy Watson and Danny Grimshaw is unavailable after being hurt early in Sunday’s game.

Hawks coach Barry Eaton admitted: “We had some disruption [on Sunday].

“Andy Kain pulled out at 1.30 with a stomach bug and Danny Grimshaw got injured after four minutes.

“We had three different full-backs and four different centres throughout the game – and Aaron Lyons (a specialist second-row forward) played centre at the back end of the game.

“We were also missing Jimmy Watson, he pulled out on Friday with a back injury. We have a fair few players missing at the moment. That didn’t help, but it’s not an excuse – we certainly didn’t get to grips with what Bradford were doing at all. We thought Bradford would be good and bounce back and they were. We just couldn’t go with them.”

Dual-registered Leeds Rhinos duo Robbie Ward and Andy Yates could both return to Hawks’ side tomorrow.
