HUNSLET HAWKS have been Rob-bed of two Leeds Rhinos dual-registration players for tonight’s home clash with Sheffield Eagles (8pm), but Matthew Tebb is set to make his first appearance of the season.
Hooker Robbie Ward (sternum injury) and prop Robbie Mulhern (medial knee ligament damage) were both hurt in last Sunday’s win over Doncaster at the Kingstone Press Championship Summer Bash.
Brad Brennan has been recalled to the initial squad and could replace Mulhern, while Jack Lee has recovered from injury and may start at hooker, with Tebb included among the substitutes.
Tebb has not played a competitive game this season, following shoulder surgery and coach Barry Eaton said: “He carried the injury for most of last year.
“It settled down for a while, but he needed to get it sorted. He will play off the bench. He has looked sharp in training, but it’ll be a big test for him.
“We’re throwing him in at the deep end.”
Brooke Broughton and Ryan Backhouse are also back in contention, with George Flanagan – who was on the bench – dropping out from last weekend’s 17.
Eagles were thrashed 46-6 by London Broncos at the Summer Bash and Eaton said: “They are a top-three or definitely top-four outfit.
“Good sides like Sheffield don’t play poorly two weeks running, so we know we are potentially going to face a backlash, but we are doing all right at the moment and hopefully we’ll give a good account of ourselves if we continue to improve.”
