Hunslet Hawks: Coach Bramald proving a tough taskmaster

Hawks battled to a 40-14 victory at bottom club Oxford two days ago, but Bramald was not impressed with their performance.

“We didn’t play well,” he admitted.

“We were scratchy from the first minute.

“We didn’t complete our first four sets and we were scratchy from then on.

“We made too many errors, we invited them into our end and we struggled to hold them out.

“That made the game closer than it should have been, for longer.

“We pulled away in the second half, which was pleasing, but we still made too many errors.

“Even with the scoreline, I was disappointed with our concentration and application and our skill levels were a bit too low.

“Hopefully it will be a lesson learned, but I thought that after the game at Newcastle and it was a similar story.”

Injuries meant Hawks, who are at home to Doncaster on Sunday, finished the game with no fit players on the bench.

Bramald said: “Jordan Normington suffered a calf injury, Jack Lee took a bang to a knee, Liam Mackay tweaked a calf and Jamie Milburn got a dead leg.”
