CONSISTENCY IS the missing ingredient in Hunslet Hawks’ season so far.
Hawks have recorded outstanding wins at home to Barrow Raiders and Doncaster in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup, but suffered comprehensive Kingstone Press League One defeats at Rochdale Hornets and Barrow. They play their first home league game today against Keighley Cougars (2pm) and coach Matt Bramald is keen for his men to continue where they left off in last week’s 48-6 drubbing of Doncaster.
“We have got to build on that,” said the coach.
“We spoke about that straight after the game and said we have got to string some performances together.
“So far we’ve gone with a good performance, then a poor one, then another good one.
“We have got to carry on from last week and that will have to happen for us to beat Keighley or give them a run for their money. They are among the group of favourites and they’ll be looking to get back on track after some disappointing results.
“So, we have to be right on top of our game.”
Hawks won at Keighley in pre-season, but Bramald insisted: “We can’t read too much into that.
“The thing we can take from it is the way we finished the game.
“We finished really strongly.
“So, if we stay in the arm wrestle, hopefully we can have a positive result again.”
