Featherstone Rovers’ Kingstone Press Championship game at Whitehaven, scheduled for Saturday evening, has been postponed.

The pitch at the Recreation Ground is unfit after recent bad weather.

Rovers coach Jon Sharp said: “Ideally, we would have liked to have played it.

“We want to keep playing to maintain the momentum and we don’t want fixtures building up.”

Sharp said he is hoping the game can be rearranged for a Challenge Cup weekend, if Rovers and Whitehaven do not progress to the late stages.

The Rovers coach is keen to avoid a midweek trip to Cumbria.

Rovers’ reserve fixture at home to Castleford Tigers under-19s, due to be played at Big Fella’s Stadium on Sunday, has been postponed to protect the pitch.
