PROP Tony Tonks is due to undergo knee surgery on Thursday and will miss the next month of Featherstone Rovers’ season.
Coach Daryl Powell said the injury has been bothering Tonks, pictured, for a while and did not occur in Rovers’ win at Hunslet Hawks two days ago.
“It has been a long-standing thing and we have been managing it, but he needs to have it sorted out now and will be out for about four weeks,” Powell said.
“We were waiting until after the Leigh game (on Easter Monday), but then he had a bit of illness and we put it off for another week.”
Powell was pleased with the victory at Hunslet, but feels his side still aren’t at their best.
“We were quite comfortable, but we are still trying to build consistency across the 80 minutes,” he said.
“We started strongly and that was really positive, but we are making some poor errors in the second half of games.”
Rovers’ Tim Spears has received an official RFL caution for making “dangerous contact” in last month’s win over Barrow.
