Bradford win was start of rest of our year, insists Morrison

They eased to a 46-10 win on Sunday, building nicely on their shock 16-14 success at Bradford Bulls a week earlier.

Rams are now up to seventh in the Championship after arresting a worrying slide and Morrison admitted: “Everyone played well and everyone did their job.

“We scored seven tries from seven different scorers while Paul Sykes kicked all nine of his goals.

“He did a great job for us and, as a half-back pairing, him and Andy Kain are finally buying into the systems we have; they are now starting to get it.

“It was a very professional job. We spoke beforehand that the Bradford win would mean nothing unless we backed it up.

“But we did that. We got through our sets, completed at over 80 per cent, which is something we’ve looked at doing, and kicked on again.

“We’ve thrown away a lot of games we should have won this season, but wanted to make sure that Bradford win was the start of the rest of our year for us.

“We’ve got everyone to play again in the Middle Eights so we can still try and go for the top six. That was the aim at the start of the season; to get a home final in the Shield and then try and make the final.”

Dewsbury suffered a couple of injuries that might affect them ahead of Sunday’s trip to fourth-placed Halifax.

“Kyle Trout got a head knock and concussion,” said Morrison.

“He can’t remember anything so I’ll give him a rest this week, and there was a few others who couldn’t finish the game.

“But we’ve got Jack Teanby, a young front-row who we’ve rested the last couple of weeks, to come back and Paul Jackson was fit on Sunday but I left him out, so he could come in.

“Tony Tonks is probably 50-50, but we’re getting our middles back, which is helping.”
