CASTLEFORD TIGERS could lift a second trophy of the season tomorrow.

Tigers’ under-19s will go for glory against Wigan Warriors at DW Stadium in the Academy Grand Final (2pm).

We’ve got a lot of good young players coming through the system, which is always great to see.

Wigan are the league leaders and beat Tigers twice in the regular season, but the visitors are in confident mood after claiming runners-up spot.

Head coach Daryl Powell reckons the academy’s title bid is another indication of Tigers’ progress as a club.

Castleford’s first team have already secured the Super League leaders’ shield and Powell said: “We’ve got a lot of good young players coming through the system, which is always great to see.

“I am so pleased they have got there. It is a great achievement.

“Hopefully they can go to Wigan and do themselves justice on Sunday and go out and win it.”

Wigan will be appearing in their ninth Grand Final in 10 years and Tigers will go into the game as underdogs, but Powell insisted they can be proud of what they have achieved, whatever tomorrow’s result.

He added: “They have done awesome this year. Players are developing within our system who will go on to press for a first team place.

“We’ve been working hard to grow our youth development over the last four years and we are in a good spot at the moment.”
