CASTLEFORD TIGERS set an impressive standard when they demolished Wigan Warriors, but coach Daryl Powell reckons they can and will get better.

The 42-14 victory six days ago broke Tigers’ First Utility Super League duck and will send them into tonight’s game at Huddersfield Giants in good heart.

“We’ve felt all the way through we were not far away from a really good performance and that came last week,” Powell said.

“But we need to keep improving and we can be better.

“I thought we started really well last week and some of our attacking plays were outstanding, but I still think there’s a fair bit of improvement in the team in terms of fluency and consistency.

“Defensively we worked really hard for each other, but we conceded a couple of soft tries so there’s a few things we can improve on there.

“It is all about consistency – you don’t get everything right, but we feel we can improve in a couple of areas.”

Giants also got off the mark last Friday, with a home win over Widnes Vikings and Powell is expecting a physical battle.

He said: “There’s a bit of pressure around when you’re not performing well and both ourselves and Huddersfield have been in a similar situation.

“We have just got to focus on ourselves and get our game as good as it can be.

“They are a big side – Crabtree, Huby and Kopczak are big people and Ta’ai isn’t small either, but our pack has done pretty well.

“Catalans, St Helens and Wigan are pretty physical teams and we have fronted up pretty well. Huddersfield have made a similar start to ourselves.

“They are at home so they will be pretty confident and they’ve got some people who know a bit about us, so it should be an interesting game.”

Giants prop Craig Huby, who was Tigers’ longest-serving player before leaving last autumn, will be facing his former club for the first time.

But he insisted:“It’s just another game.

“I’ve got a job to do no matter who we face and we’ll try to take the two points.”

Scott Moore will return from suspension to replace Adam Milner tonight and Andy Lynch could be back after injury.

Michael Channing is set to step in for Michael Shenton (dislocated shouler) and Jordan Tansey is also available after injury.
