Castleford Tigers: Joe's back for French test

Loose-forward Joe Westerman will return for Castleford Tigers against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan tomorrow, writes PETER SMITH.

Westerman was a late withdrawal from the team which lost at Hull last week, due to an infected knee. He was among the Tigers party which flew to Girona today, before a coach transfer to the south of France.

Tigers are without forward Paul Jackson, who suffered a groin injury at Hull, so on-loan Warrington pack man Mike Cooper is set to make his debut.

John Davies, who is dual registered with York City Knights, has also been called into Cas' initial 19-man squad.

Jackson will be out of action for a month and joins Richard Owen, Dean Widders and Brett Ferres on the long-term casualty list, while Kirk Netherton is currently out of favour.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's game will definitely go ahead, despite heavy snow fall in Perpignan.

An army of 100 volunteers helped players and grounds staff to clear the Gilbert Brutus pitch.

Catalans spokesman Yannic Rey said: "We have completely cleared the snow from the field.

"It is now sunny and the field is perfect. There is no problem, which is a big relief.

"It is important for us to play a home game, because four of our first five matches have been away."
