BOSS DARYL Powell admitted Castleford Tigers “weren’t great” in yesterday’s 22-20 victory over hosts Salford Red Devils.
“We didn’t play well, but I think sometimes it’s like that when you lose a game the week before,” Powell said.
“This was seen as a really important game.
“Everybody will say Salford have a lot of people missing so we should win the game.
“I suppose all the pressure was on us. I don’t think we played well at any point, but there’s been a few games earlier on this season that I thought we should have won and we didn’t.
“It was scratchy from us, but I think we’ve just got to relax a bit. Our team’s changed a bit, with different injuries and we just need a bit of consistency about us, which we haven’t quite got at the moment.”
Powell praised 19-year-old Ash Robson, who scored a try on his debut.
“He was good,” said the coach. “He hasn’t played much on the wing, but he handled it pretty well.
“He has got energy and good footwork, he did pretty well I thought.”
