CASTLEFORD TIGERS’ defeat at Catalans Dragons in the First Utility Super-8s could prove costly.
Tigers are fifth in the table, two points outside the play-off zone with four games remaining.
And they picked up a series of injuries in the 44-26 defeat, with skipper Michael Shenton being the main concern.
He suffered a dislocated shoulder and coach Daryl Powell said: “That’s pretty bad news.
“Ash Gibson got suplexed a bit and got dropped on the nape of his neck, which looked pretty horrific.
“He went to hospital over there, but we’ve got this weekend off and he should be all right.
“Nathan Massey got an ankle injury and Ben Roberts got a head knock, but he should be okay.”
Powell admitted his team were “poor”, but said the injuries added to their woes. “We didn’t have any subs,” he said.
“Adam Milner was on the wing, both second-rowers were in the centres and we had Justin Carney at full-back.
“We were pulled apart. It was disappointing, but we have got to respond.
“We need to learn a few lessons from it and I think we have to toughen up a bit. We have got some key games coming up and we are still in there.”
