Bulldogs coach John Kear hailed his players after they bounced back from last week’s thrashing at Featherstone to earn a first win at Sheffield since 2010.
Eagles boss Kear said: “It’s important to beat Sheffield after we had 16-17 games since we last beat them.
“We were focused on putting that right and there were obvious benefits to the league table as well.
“The response to a very poor performance last week (at Featherstone) was excellent.”
The victory saw Batley take back sixth place in the Championship and left Eagles hanging on to the final play-off place. Wayne Reittie, Ben Heaton, Jacob Fairbank and Alex Brown scored the Batley tries, with Scott Leatherbarrow booting six goals.
