A WIN is all that matters for Batley Bulldogs as they prepare for tomorrow’s trip to Keighley Cougars in the Kingstone Press Championship (3pm).

Batley have lost their last six matches.

And boss John Kear admitted: “Confidence is an x-factor thing – it is very difficult to gain and very easy to lose.

“I think when you have had a defeat or two you’ve lost it.

“We just need a win – I am not bothered whether it’s pretty – we just need to win.”

Kear added: “The players are focused on that.

“They know they’ve got to go through processes, but the outcome is really important.

“If the processes are poor, but we get the outcome, we’ll be happy with that.

“We were three minutes and 24 seconds away from getting a win against Workington last week and that would have put smiles on faces, but we didn’t get it.

“And so we have got to go through it all again.”

But Kear knows it won’t be easy against a Keighley Cougars side which has begun to find some form.

“They are difficult to play against,” he said. “They’ve got some quality players and a big forward pack.

“It is a very short ground and you have to change your game plan slightly for it.”
