TRIALIST Darren Williams could get a run-out when Batley Bulldogs play host to Gateshead Thunder in the Northern Rail Cup on Sunday.

The winger/centre is brother of Bulldogs’ Daley Williams and coach Karl Harrison revealed: “He was on Salford’s scholarship, but he lost his way a bit with the game.

“He is only 21, he has been training with us for the last five or six weeks and I am thinking of giving him a run.

“He was a fantastic player as a junior and he seems to have his head on, so we’ll see how he goes.”

Alex Brown is back in the squad after being dropped for last weekend’s win at Hunslet, but Jason Walton will begin a two-match ban for a dangerous throw in the loss to Leigh two weeks ago.

Harrison described that as a “fair judgement” and was pleased with the sending-off sufficient verdict on Paul Mennell from the same game.
