Batley Bulldogs: Lythe faces waiting game

Hooker Kris Lythe may have to wait for a Batley Bulldogs recall.

Lythe is available for Sunday’s Co-op Championship clash at Featherstone Rovers after missing last weekend’s 28-0 round-one victory over Dewsbury Rams through suspension.

Coach Karl Harrison will select from last weekend’s 17, plus Lythe and Craig Potter, but said: “The team played quite well and I can’t envisage many changes, if any.”

Half-back Paul Mennell remains sidelined due to an infected leg.

Harrison said: “He is walking without crutches and hopefully will be available for the week after.”

Meanwhile, Bulldogs are hoping to sign trialist Darren Williams.

“We are talking to him about a contract,” said Harrison.

“He is training as per normal, but is not getting in the side at the moment.

“It’s the same with Elliott Hodgson, who is on dual-registration from Huddersfield.

“He also can’t get in the team at the moment and that shows the strength we’ve got.”
