HOLDERS Batley Bulldogs’ progression to the quarter-finals of the Northern Rail Cup has delighted team boss Karl Harrison.

Bulldogs confirmed their place with a 26-25 win at Co-op Championship Grand Final winners Halifax two days ago.

“I am very pleased,” said Harrison. “We had the toughest group, so to get through is very good.

“To get a result away to the current champions is very pleasing, but we made it hard for ourselves in the second half (after leading 22-6 at half-time).

“We didn’t have the ball for long periods and we conceded some soft tries, but overall we were fantastic defensively.”

Half-back Gareth Moore is Bulldogs’ major injury concern.

Harrison said: “He had a knee-on-knee collision, so it is very tender.

“He only played about 10 minutes and if he’s in any doubt at all I won’t risk him in the Challenge Cup tie against Fryston on Sunday.”
