HUNSLET CLUB Parkside sealed a second consecutive championship with a 50-0 thrashing of Dewsbury Celtic in National Conference Division Two.
Last year’s first division champions have lost only three games since joining the Conference ahead of the 2015 season.
Luke O’Malley scored a hat-trick of tries and kicked a goal against relegation-threatened Celtic and Jamie Fields finished with two tries and six goals. Other try scorers were Danny Harrison, Craig McShane, Ben Thorpe and Chris Boyce.
Parkside are at home to Leeds rivals Milford Marlins tomorrow in a Conference Challenge Trophy semi-final.
The winners will face Rochdale Mayfield, who won 39-28 at Featherstone Lions in the first semi-final.
With players having booked a summer break before the game was rearranged, Thornhill Trojans fielded a weakened side at Wigan St Jude’s, travelling with only 16 players.
Several of the team were playing their second game in three days after a midweek ‘A’ team fixture and Trojans had to battle for 46 minutes with 12 men after try scorer James Craven was sent-off for an alleged high tackle.
George Woodcock and Jake Wilson also crossed in Trojans’ 24-16 defeat and Sam Ratcliffe kicked two goals.
In Division One, East Leeds endured a tough day at Thatto Heath Crusaders where they suffered a 62-18 defeat.
Luke Tomlinson, Joey Walkin and Sean Ward scored Easts’ tries, all converted by Dec Tomlinson.
Milford Marlins maintained their good run with a 40-16 home win over Millom.
Hunslet Warriors are at home to Featherstone Lions on Thursday.
