Pitt: City can now kick on

In Blue Square Premier, York City host fellow play-off hopefuls AFC Wimbledon tomorrow and midfielder Courtney Pitt is confident the Minstermen's recent barren spell is a thing of the past.

City stopped the rot of six league games without a victory with Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Mansfield Town as Pitt, on loan from Cambridge United, struck a 61st-minute winner.

The win put City back in the play-offs at the expense of Kettering Town and Pitt feels his side were merely failing to get the rub of the green during their recent poor spell.

"We were just unlucky in our blip, we had lots of chances, we just couldn't score," said Pitt.

"Teams were coming to play us and having one shot on target all game and scoring.

"But that is just what happens in a season, every team has blips."

Wimbledon sit four points behind York in seventh but with a game in hand.
