Oakwood Owls' three match unbeaten run came to an end against a physical Leeds United Youth side in the Soccer City Premier League. Read mtach report here.

Oakwood Owls 5

Leeds United Youth 7

Oakwood came into the game knowing that victory could offer them slim hope of winning the league, while second placed Leeds United Youth knew that a win should all but guarantee at least the runners-up spot.

Owls started at a very quick tempo, causing their experienced opponents lots of problems & went 3 - 1 up by 12 minutes of this 25 minute match.

Goals by captain Rodley(2) & Coldwell put them in the driving seat, before Utd youth made a game changing triple substitution, bringing on three bigger, stronger players in order to get the job done.

Their tactical move brought a new dimension to this game, as the United youth physical game eventually wore the Owls players down.

Youth scored two quickfire goals to restore parity, including a much disputed penalty after an Owl was deliberately pushed into his own penalty area.

This left the referee with no other option but to give United a spot kick & there were also a number of other debatable decisions by him which altered the the eventual outcome of this game.

The United game plan put them in front on 18, when yet another bizzare ref decision put the Owls boys under unwarranted defensive pressure. The resulting free kick was hit home to make it 4 - 3 Leeds Utd.

The Owls boys kept passing & working hard & were rewarded when man of

the match Owino ran through the entire Leeds defence, before hitting a piledriver from 15 yards,to again bring them level.

From then on the tie was littered with niggly fouls & timewasting, leaving the Owls boys battered, bruised & tired.

On 22 Leeds again had Owls on the backfoot, when a through ball cut thier defence wide open, offering a simple finish for the United forward, before Temple ended a five man Owls move to again draw level at 5-5.

The final two minutes proved a little to much, with Owls looking for the full three points, but it was United who ended as victors, with counter attacks, scoring two late goals to collect all three points at 7-5.
