The Owls battled hard on their debut appearance in a 28 minute match.

Leeds Youth arrived having won all 5 of their games & conceding only 11 goals, while the Owls began the campaign minus 15 points after entering the league after its offset & also without 3 regular first choice players, due to family holidays

The Owls boys gave them the fright of their lives hough, putting on a virtuoso team performance that saw them lead 5-2 at one stage. The boys created chance after chance & carved the opposition to pieces many a time, with some quite outstanding passing play throughout & only lost out literally on the final whistle! In the end Leeds youth proved just why they lead the table, as they put away more opportunites in this close contest, but this really was a performance for us all to be proud of, as we learn together at this new level.

Rod Christopher said: "Every single one of our seven man squad did me proud today & we were by no means inferior technically. Maybe we lacked a little bit of know how in this league & i think that was the only difference between the two sides. We've given them the toughest challenge to date & even the watching supporters & Leeds youth manager agreed that we were probably the best of the two sides here, but unfortunately in football the best team doesn't always win does it?

"We are obviously dissapointed to lose out this way, but we will now look to the next game."

Mr Christopher added: "There are lots of positives to take from today though, which we will learn from & discuss when we meet next week. The most important thing is that we clearly showed that we're more than capable of competing at this level & this performance gives us plenty of confidence for our future league games over the coming months.

"If we can totally out play the league leaders, then theres no limit to how well we can do over long haul of whats left of the season. We have 12 more games to get things running & the lads can't wait for the next one."

Owls U-15s squad: 1.Richardson, 2. Owiso, 3. Kinghorn, 4. Rodley (Capt) 5. Walker 6. Shaw (Sub), 7. Farrar (Sub).
