Stars tee off to help out charity
LEEDS UNITED stars from past and present will take on teams from Leeds Rhinos, Leeds Carnegie and Yorkshire County Cricket Club for charity next week.
The sporting aces will be getting out their golf clubs at Wike Ridge next Tuesday (3.00) in a contest to raise funds for cancer research.
The Leeds Pro Team Challenge will also feature a line-up of the club's pro's.
Prior to that, on Saturday, Wike Ridge host a regional final of the HSBC Wee Wonders, the country's leading junior tournament that gives five to 12-year-olds a way to progress into competitive golf.
Meanwhile Darren Leng, from Far Grange Park, near Hornsea, teamed with self-employed Wakefield electrician Phil Killey, who has only been playing golf seriously for a year, to earn a place in the final of Europe's biggest pro-am with a 10-under-par-winning 62 in the Virgin Atlantic PGA National Pro-Am Championship qualifier at Fulford.
The duo now go off to the final in Turkey in December and Leng also won 500.
