North East Leeds 6
Chapeltown YFDC 1
The first half in general was a very even contest with Chapeltown displaying some excellent passing and individual skill. North East Leeds put in a typically battling performance with much improved passing.
The deadlock was broken on 18 minutes after a good finish from a tight angle by Lawrence Roberts.
Two minutes later Oliver Batley put in a brilliant ball across the face of goal to allow Markel a sliding tap-in at the back post. Just before half time Chapeltown pulled a goal back through an excellent volleyed strike which flew into the top corner.
At half time North East Leeds were reminded to keep their concentration after surrendering the lead three times in the previous week. This message was taken on board with a superb second half performance.
Midway through the second half captain Josh Baggott picked the ball up on the half way line and made an excellent run into the box and looked like he was going to go all the way himself before he seemed to be fouled but a good advantage was played as the ball went through to Markel Henry and he finished well.
Two minutes later we were 4-1 up after an almost identical run from Josh Baggott which this time resulted in him scoring an excellent individual goal. Markel Henry sealed his second hat-trick of the season on 48 minutes after another typically good finish.
The scoreline now allowed us to make a few substitutions one of which was Ramiro Sturla who got himself on the score sheet on 52 minutes to seal an outstanding 6-1 victory.
Today was the day that all the players seemed to gel and everything appeared to click into place.
Although the scoreline might not suggest it Chapeltown were a very good side and were without doubt one of the best teams we have played this year making the win even more impressive.
There was no man of the match award this week purely because it was impossible to single out one player. Every player did what they were asked to do and performed to their best ability.
Well done - we have now set the standard we need to achieve to climb up the league.
