North Leeds CC claim four points from Adel clash

After a poor result last week against Collingham NLCC first team bounced back to claim 4 points in a rain affected game at home to local rivals Adel.

Captain Tim Cooper lost the toss in a game reduced to 39 overs a side and NLCC were put into bat.

This looked like a poor decision by the Adel skipper as Cooper and Jackson eased through the gears to put on a century opening stand with few problems despite some excellent bowling from Adel's left arm overseas.

Both players made impressive half centuries but fell in quick succession as they looked to push on with 10 wickets still intact.

A slightly reshuffled batting order then faulted with Seligmann, Kellaway and Atkinson all falling cheaply as the impressive overseas came back from the bottom end to claim all three wickets.

NLCC are not without a talented overseas of their own however and taking a break from his very successful bunny hunting Gregg Kennedy took advantage of a promotion in the batting order and along with Steve Wales put together an excellent partnership including some fierce hitting to take the score comfortably past 200. NLCC finished on an imposing 223-6.

Adel's reply started slowly with Kennedy and leading wicket taker Nick Richardson bowling tightly and intelligently on an ever improving wicket. Needing to up the run chase after losing a couple of wickets Adel's Standring took the attack to NLCC with Tom Hudson taking the brunt of the punishment. The NLCC legend that is Steve Wales then stepped up the claim Standring's wicket (as he does every season) not without some considerable help from Seligmann with a superb running catch at cover.

Adel were never really up with the rate from then on in until some very lusting hitting late on from the overseas including two huge sixes off Wales. The chairman characteristically came back the very next ball to rearrange the furniture of our Australian friend followed by some very excitable celebrations. The game finished with a winning draw and NLCC claiming 4 points to Adel's 2.

The result got NLCC back on track and moved them upto 3rd in the table".
