Six Olympic sports have received a cash boost for the final 18 months before the London 2012 Games, funding body UK Sport has announced.
An overall increase of 2.6m is being shared between the sports where a chance of winning extra medals has been identified – rowing, gymnastics, hockey, boxing (mainly women's), taekwondo and canoeing.
However, Leeds badminton stars Gabby White and Jenny Wallwork have seen funding for their sport slashed. Paralympic sport Goalball has also had its budget trimmed.
UK Sport chair, Baroness Sue Campbell, said: "Sports now know what they have for the final push – this review represents the last significant opportunity for changes to investment before 2012."
The winter Olympic sports overall funding will rise from 6.5m over the last four years to 11.3million up to the 2014 winter Games in Sochi.
