New Farnley CC edged out by Liversedge

New Farnley CC took on Liversedge in their latest Central Yorkshire Cricket League Premier Division clash.

Contrary to other games in the league, this match started on time and without stoppage for light or rain.

Liversedge won the toss and hesitantly asked New farnley to bat. after a rapid opening stand of 32, Nicholas cullen was ajudged stumped off

Liversedge's newly aquired opening bowler Kaye.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals with only Will Smith making a telling contribution with a top-score of 34.

Farnley were all out in the penultimate over for 147, a very useful total in sluggish conditions.

The pick of the Liversedge attack was Simon purday finishing with figures of 22-9-32-5. This looked a more than sufficient total.

The Farnley reply bowling attack started hesitantly, like all sides pre-season practice was at a minimum and it was shoiwing. after a patchy and annoying opening stand of 70, the breakthrough was finally made by Smith, whom with his off-spin took the wicket of Chunara for 33.

What followed was a mixture of early-season formless batting and xxx-rated slogging from Imran Dawood, the sedge number 3. he finished the game 59 not out, and untimately was the difference between the two sides.

Verdict: Both sides cold and unprepared, Liversedge edged it on the day.

Result: Liversedge 6 points, New Farnley 0 points.
