New Farnley CC destroy Mirfield Parish Cavaliers
New Farnley CC put Mirfield Parish Cavaliers to the sword in their latest league encounter.
The 2003 Heavy Woolen cup winners Mirfield Parish cavaliers have enough big name players to be competing in any format of the game, although it was a very different tale on Saturday.

The game did not start until nearly 3pm, as there was a site screen 'missing' at one end. The home side eventually improvised and used a practice net complete with white wickets covers in place. (due to time lost because of this the game was reduced to 38 overs per side instead of the usual 50)
New Farnley lost the toss and were immediately asked to bat on what looked a very green and damp surface. A reasonable start moved the total to 53-2, with Cullen and the australian Petricola both in the tent being victims of their own wish to up the scoring at what is one of the smaller gorunds in the league.
The opener Chris Hill continuing good early season form with Will smith, to take the Farnley total to 132 before the latter was bowled for a workmanlike 42.
With the lower order all chipping in the total of 210-8 looked a formidable one. Hill finishing unbeated on 82 in what must be one of the knocks of the season so far. The Parish reply never really got going: from 15-0 they looked disinterested and unsure of the tactic.
With Petricola steaming in, the first four wickets seem to breeze by: Khan, Latif -both renowned high quality players failing to trouble the scorers (for the second week running).
Sean Louw fighting back from last weeks disappointment to claim the next 4 wickets. at 78-9 the fat lady was indeed clearing her throat. Although there was only the last wicket needed to complete what would be a rout, Parkinson batting at 10 showed what most of the top order did not: patience and shot selection, denying the Lawns Lane men. He finished the game with 46*.
After promising so much in recent years, New farnley now look the 'complete' side they have not been before -all the talent juniors are now talented 20-somethings, and showing why they are finally a force to be reckoned with.
Verdict: pure application from Farnley overcame a low key effort from Mirfield.
Result: Farnley 4 points, Parish 0 points.
