New Farnley CC 4ths endure bad day at the office

New Farnley CC 4ths travelled to Esholt looking for a repeat of last season's famous victory.

With only four players having arrived at the ground five minutes before the scheduled start and the umpire feverishly thumbing through the rule book things were not looking promising to say the least.

The toss was lost (again) and we were unsuprisingly asked to bat on a track that had less life in it than a tramps vest.

The first over was safely negotiated by Doddie and with the second producing ten runs things were looking rosy.

What followed next was an absolute disaster as a steady progression of wickets tumbled at both ends.

Doddie was the first to exit trapped leg before without troubling the scorers quickly followed by Beast ,Winnie, Dippy,Faz,Cheesy,Jammy and Reece.

Young Luke was the last man out and the innings was over with the total on 24.

Set a target of 25 Esholt were always favourites, but with tight bowling and quality commitment in the field were made to work hard for their victory.

So a very bad day at the office which will hopefully be rectified next week when we welcome Shipley Prov to Farnley Park.
