New Farnley CC 2nds march on

New Farnley CC 2nds claimed all six points form their away day at Stanley.

The team arrived at Stanley to find the choice of two wickets to play, a boggy outfield and long grass in places.

After deciding which pitch to use Simon won the toss and put a weak looking Stanley in to bat.

They had been shot out for 50 the previous week so we were hoping for a similar result.

Farnley started with some pretty wayward bowling but the opposition weren't the best and NF were soon on top Stanley at 34-3. An all asian partenership then produced a stand of 44 but after that wickets fell at regular intervals, Stanley all out for 111.

Mark Scaife's figures of 3-29 were the best but he has bowled better than this and not had as good returns.

Simmo was economical (8-1-14-2 and the Skipper's 12-3-23-1 were also tidy in the Asian onslaught. Young Joel Rothery's 6-2-17-1 was excellent also.

High point of the day had to be the amazing run out. Whilst celebrating a four that never was, Farnley ran out the non-striking batsman while they were busy punching gloves in the middle of the wicket!

The Farnley batsman wasted no time chasing the total down in only 23.4 overs. All four batsman reached double figures against pretty ordinary bowling. Stivvy top scored with 39 not out but everyone looked in very good form.

Marching on with another six points then. There will be tougher games I'm sure but this side looks well and the confidence is building.
